We presented the idea of building a metal screen using corrugated metal roofing to the land lord last night. To say the least he was not very thrilled with the idea. Unfortunately he feels that the theatre screen in the yard is an eye sore. Even though we keep the yard well landscaped in the summer. It seems that he feels the look of the corrugated metal would be unacceptable. He might consider letting us build a metal screen if it was flat metal surface as he feels that would be more ascetically pleasing when the theatre is not in use, but that he would prefer us to use the existing structure. Also the cost of flat steel is so much more than corrugated, it now appears that it would be nearly impossible for us to build a metal screen due to the costs and requirement place on it.
He has told us that we are, at least for now allowed to keep what we have (which is currently unusable, but possibly repairable). He even stated that adding on to the existing frame to make it slightly larger would most likely be okay, pending his approval. But he doesn't really want to see the lawn torn up for a new build so we will see what happens as we continue to negotiate with him.
This weekend I will be out at the theatre taking some measurements and seeing what we might be able do with the current structure, if anything and then we will go from there. Perhaps the original structure can be reinforced and expanded as much as possible. I have a few thoughts rolling around and I will have a better idea what will happen next after this weekends inspection.
