As some of you may know we had some problems with our audio last season, not covering the back corner of the field sometimes. It looks like our ATU (the black box on the side of the screen with the antenna on it) is on it's way out. Unfortunatly it is beond repair, It could be patched together for another season, but years and years of mosture have taken thier toll on the electronics inside the box. To keep the existing system going we should spend $395 plus shipping for a replacement ATU unit or $75 to patch it together and it might make it though the season. Another option is to get rid of all of the AM broadcast equipment, and upgrade to a new FM stereo transmitter and antenna which would cost between $150 and $250 depending on setup we end up with.
I am currently in talks with a company out of indiana working on coming with something that will suite our needs and be affordable. If that doesn't pan out I have a second company that I might talk to. Up grading to FM right now will depend on the final estimate we get from the company and cost to repair the screen. As we get the final estimate for the screen and for the FM transmitter set up we'll have a better idea of the rebuilt screen size and what we will be doing for sound this year.
